A Texas law allowing local police to arrest anybody they believe is in the country illegally is back on hold. The Supreme Court allowed the temporary stay of the law to expire, but moments later, reversed course citing a new filing challenging the law. Opponents claim that only the federal government has the right to enforce immigration law.    Nearly a thousand Americans have reached out to the State Department for help in Haiti, where gang violence has plunged the nation into chaos. A State Department spokesperson says people have been filling out crisis intake forms online, as the U.S. tries to get people out on chartered flights.    Congress needs to pass legislation to avoid a partial government shutdown at the end of the week, with funding set to run out for six annual spending bills. Lawmakers were able to reach a tentative deal Monday evening on funding the Department of Homeland Security, which is seen as paving the way for lawmakers to begin considering the remaining spending bills and avert a shutdown.    A man faces life in prison for one of three murders that sent shockwaves through the Muslim community in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Muhammad Syed was convicted Monday for killing Aftab Hussein with a rifle back in the summer of 2022. He also faces separate trials in two other murders of Muslim men.    Buckingham Palace says King Charles the Third is alive following reports of his death in Russian media. Several Russian outlets ran with the news of the king's supposed death using an announcement dated March 18th that featured the palace seal. The palace and several British embassies issued statements denying the reports. The denials come a month after the king was diagnosed with cancer.    Abortion rights groups will no longer hand out free emergency contraceptives at Olivia Rodrigo concerts. That's due to the nationwide publicity of the singer's recent concert in St. Louis where that was done. Her management team has requested that in the future abortion rights groups refrain from handing out the materials at upcoming shows. They cited children being present at Rodrigo's concerts as the reason.
