Jordan Aponte (age 22)

Woonsocket, RI

On March 25, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jordan Aponte with one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Woonsocket on diverse dates between September 10, 2012 and September 10, 2015. The Woonsocket Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 7, 2021 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Herber Huayta (age 43)

Johnston, RI

On March 25, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Herber Huayta with four counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of second-degree child molestation.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Cranston on diverse dates between January 1, 2006 and April 25, 2010. The Cranston Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 7, 2021 in Providence County Superior Court.

Police are using tear gas on hundreds of protestors in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. This comes after Governor Tim Walz's Twin Cities metro area curfew went into effect. Protestors are gathering after a police officer shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright on Sunday.       The suspect in Monday's shooting at a Knoxville school is dead. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said police fatally shot them. The suspect, who was a student at the school, exchanged gunfire with an officer after refusing to come out of the bathroom. The officer was also shot but is expected to be okay.        Regeneron is asking the FDA to approve its antibody cocktail to be used as a preventive treatment for COVID-19. The FDA already approved the antibody cocktail for emergency use authorization in severe cases. The request comes after new clinical data showed the treatment reduced the risk of becoming infected by 81-percent.       The NCAA is reminding Texas it requires a safe, healthy, and discrimination-free environment for its championship tournaments. The Board of Governors put out a statement Monday saying the organization embraces science regarding trans athletes. The state is also considering a bill to ban trans athletes. The NCAA noted it requires trans women to be undergoing testosterone suppression treatment before they can compete.        A pair of two tiny terriers are coming out on top after fighting a bear in southern California. KABC reports home security video from Saturday showed a bear making its way into a woman's kitchen. That's when her dogs Squirt and Mei Mei ran the bear away from the house.
