Learn Chinese this summer at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library for ages 7-11. Participants who sign up for the class are expected to attend all classes in the series as one class builds on the next for language learning.  Starts Thurday July 13th ends August 24th from 4-5:30. Yes, Each program is an hour and a half long.

Participants will learn how to greet each other and introduce yourself, tell time and dates, express intersts of sports, animals, and hobbies including being able to order meals.

Practice actual Chinese character writing along with fun oral conversations. Learn about the language, history and culture through song, repitition and fun activities.

The student accused of today's deadly shooting at a Texas high school is back in jail following his first court appearance. A judge informed Dimitrios Pagourtzis [[ puh-GORT-sis ]] that he's being charged with capital murder and aggravated assault against a public servant. The 17-year-old was denied bond and requested an attorney.        The nation is reeling after the latest mass shooting. Nine students and one teacher were killed when a student opened fire on classmates and staff members at Santa Fe High School near Houston. Eyewitnesses say he was wearing a trench coat and armed with three weapons.        Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants to expand a mental health program to help prevent other school shootings. Abbott told reporters today the program used by Lubbock ISD should be considered by other districts following today's attack at Santa Fe High School along the Gulf Coast. The governor also wants to speed up background checks and providing more resources to schools for safety personnel.        More than 100 people are feared dead in the crash of a Boeing 737 jetliner in Cuba. The plane crashed and caught fire after taking off from Havana's Jose Marti International Airport. Cuban state media says three survivors were pulled from the wreckage and taken to the hospital in critical condition.        Anticipation is building for the second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown. The 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes is set for 6:20 p.m. Eastern tomorrow at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Kentucky Derby winner Justify is the heavy 1-and-2 morning-line favorite.       Meghan Markle's beagle Guy is sharing in her Cinderella story. The 17-pound dog was nearly put to death at a Kentucky kill shelter before being adopted by Markle in Toronto in 2015. Guy now lives with Markle in the U.K.
