RITBA E-ZPASS OFFICE CLOSED

 

September 2, office closed for scheduled system maintenance

 

 

JAMESTOWN, R.I. – The E-ZPass office will be closed Saturday, September 2, 2017 as the The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) performs scheduled computer system maintenance and IT upgrades.

 

At that time, E-ZPass customers will not have access to their accounts, and no new accounts will be opened. No E-ZPass transponder purchases can be made online or by telephone on that day. In addition to September 2, the E-ZPass and RITBA Administration offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2017 for Labor Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, September 5.

 

The E-ZPass office hours at East Shore Road in Jamestown are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Get ready to start paying more when you shop online. That's because the U.S. Supreme Court says states can collect sales taxes from Internet retailers. Today's ruling covers retailers who don't currently charge sales taxes to consumers. The high court changed longstanding rules that states could not collect taxes from retailers who do not have a physical presence in a state.        The House is expected to take two votes on Republican-led immigration bills on today. The first is a compromise bill between House conservatives and moderate Republicans, and a conservative bill by Virginia Republican Bob Goodlatte. But in a tweet today, Trump said -- "What is the purpose of the House doing good immigration bills" when they will probably not pass in the Senate.        The Defense Department is sending nearly two-dozen attorneys to the southern border to help prosecute illegal immigration cases. The Defense Department told MSNBC last night that 21 military lawyers will be appointed special assistant U.S. attorneys for up to six months. The Justice Department asked the Pentagon for help handling the skyrocketing number of cases in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.        NASA is unveiling a new plan to protect Earth from asteroids. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy released a report called the "National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy And Action Plan." The document outlines steps that NASA and FEMA will take over the next ten years to prevent huge asteroids from hitting Earth.        Janet Jackson says she suffered an intense battle with depression. The pop superstar writes in the latest issue of "Essence" magazine that her depression was linked to a childhood inferiority complex and society's racism and sexism.        A billboard in Texas is gaining national attention with its message for liberals -- keep driving. The billboard set up in the panhandle reads, "Liberals please continue on I-40 until you have left our GREAT STATE OF TEXAS." It's about 35 miles from the New Mexico border.
