Fair weather, good planning and publicity, and unique food offerings combined to bring hundreds of area residents and families to Market Square in Woonsocket Friday night for the First Market Square Food Truck Night.  Live and recorded music and an outdoor children's play area added to the family friendly atmosphere.

The trucks will be back at the same location one Friday night each month this summer, June 2nd, July 7th, and August 4th.  In the event of rain, the trucks will return on the next following Friday.

The event is organized by NeighborWorks Blackstone Valley and is endorsed by many city officials.

Police believe they've captured the Golden State Killer. That's the serial killed suspected of killing at least 12 people and committing dozens of rapes across California in the 1970s and 1980s. DNA evidence led police to arrest 72-year former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo. Prosecutors say he's being held on suspicion of at least four murders.       President Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs is angling to drop his bid. NBC News reports that White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson is fed up with the nomination process after allegations of workplace misconduct emerged. Jackson has denied the allegations, which include wrecking a government vehicle while intoxicated and improperly distributing medication.        France's president thinks President Trump will pull the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal. Trump has until next month to decide whether to stay in the Obama-era deal meant to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions. Addressing a U.S. lawmakers earlier, Emmanuel Macron pushed for a more comprehensive plan to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.        Facebook is shrugging off a data-privacy scandal and a campaign for users to delete their accounts with a strong quarterly earnings report. Facebook posted nearly five-billion dollars in revenue on sales of almost 12-billion dollars in a first quarter earnings report released Wednesday. In a conference call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that "Despite facing important challenges, our community and business are off to a strong start in 2018."        Amazon is looking to make the Echo a useful learning tool for children with a new Kids Edition. The new device will begin shipping on May 9th and comes with FreeTime Parental controls, a child-friendly colored case and a two-year warranty. The company says that consumers that already have the device can get the same options with a free software update.
