Democrats "are vicious and they stick together" according to President Trump. Talking with reporters at the White House, Trump said Dems "don't have Mitt Romney in their midst," referencing the Utah Republican senator who has been very critical of Trump. Trump also called Democrats "lousy politicians."        A disaster declaration is being issued by Texas Governor Greg Abbott covering 16 counties including Dallas, Tarrant, and Collin. At least three tornadoes have been confirmed by the National Weather Service including an EF-3 twister in Dallas. No injuries were reported.        In hopes to avoid a trial over the opioid crisis, four drug manufacturers have reached a last minute settlement. Ohio's Cuyahoga and Summit counties were seeking eight billion dollars for healthcare expenses and treatment programs. It is unclear if Walgreens Boots Alliance is involved, but AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health, McKesson and Teva are, and the details of the settlement are expected later today.       In a social media post Monday afternoon, Chicago's public schools announced that classes would be canceled again Tuesday, adding a fourth day to the teachers strike. A vote by the union's house of delegates was not scheduled for Monday night to end the strike, and as a result, "it will not be possible to hold classes" Tuesday, the statement read. Mayor Lori Lightfoot urged teachers to return, citing the hardship on parents in a letter shared online.       The judge hearing the trial of the man accused of killing five people in the newsroom of Maryland's Capital Gazette newspaper revealed today that Jarrod Ramos is legally sane. The findings by a forensic psychiatrist for the state health department were given to attorneys in August but kept under seal. Ramos has pleaded not guilty and not criminally responsible, which is Maryland's version of an insanity defense. Jury selection for his trial is scheduled to begin on October 30th.       The bag at Midway International Airport in Chicago that exploded has been given the all-clear by Bomb squad officers. Police say the bag contained a cell phone battery or charger that exploded today when it was run over by a luggage vehicle while in route to Volaris flight bound for Leon, Mexico. No injuries were reported. ### Kylie Lamunyon/am
