Promotions; Friday January 31, 2020 at 5:00 pm

Woonsocket, RI; Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, Public Safety Director Eugene Jalette and Police Chief Thomas F. Oates III are pleased to announce the following promotions within the ranks of the Woonsocket Police Department.

• John Picard, a 30-year veteran, from Lieutenant to Captain
• Kenneth Marcotte, a 17-year veteran, from Sergeant to Lieutenant
• Matthew Richardson, a 16-year veteran, from Detective Sergeant to Lieutenant
• Michael Martinsen, a 6-year veteran, from Patrol Officer to Sergeant
• Jesse Nunnemacher, a 12-year veteran, from Detective to Sergeant

As of January 1, 2020, three department members have retired. Two of which, Captain Todd Boisvert and Lieutenant Kyle Stone, held supervisory positions. The retirements created the vacancies for which the promoted officers will fulfill. The other member who retired is Officer David Chattman. His position will be filled following the department’s current recruitment drive and selection for the next municipal police academy scheduled to begin in July 2020.

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt extended her well-wishes to each of the promoted officers who collectively hold eighty-one years of service.

“Congratulations to each of the five accomplished Woonsocket Police Department officers and their families,” said Mayor Baldelli-Hunt. “Your quality service enables and empowers each of us to go about our daily lives seamlessly and without worry. It is a distinct honor and privilege to count you among our City’s finest.”
“On behalf of Woonsocket, thank you for your endless dedication and devotion in protecting Woonsocket residents and the City overall,” stated Director of Public Safety Eugene Jalette.
Effective one-minute past midnight Sunday morning, all newly promoted officers will serve in their new roles within the Uniform Patrol Division led by Captain John Picard.

The official promotional ceremony will take place Friday January 31, 2020 at 5:00 pm at Historic Harris Hall, 169 Main Street Woonsocket, RI. Family, friends and the public are invited to attend.
