CITY TO INITIATE STRUCTURAL AND SPATIAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT
FOR POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT BUILDINGS

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa-Baldelli-Hunt announced today that the City of Woonsocket will be contracting for an assessment that will help guide the City in evaluating its future direction for meeting the structural and spatial needs for its police and fire departments. The assessment will help determine whether Woonsocket’s public safety facilities can accommodate future challenges that the Woonsocket Police and Fire Departments are likely to face and will provide a recommendation as to whether repairing, enhancing or replacing existing facilities will be the best, most cost effective course of action for meeting these challenges.

Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt emphasized, “Making sure that our Police and Fire Departments have adequate facilities to meet modern-day requirements is an important part of our duty to protect our residents. This spatial needs assessment will identify our current public safety facility strengths and weaknesses and will provide us with a vision for future actions. Public Safety Director Eugene Jalette added, “ We expect the assessment to be a great planning tool that will help us evaluate the facilities that we have and will present us with a realistic roadmap for either renovating or replacing them.” The City Council and Administration are partnering in this exploratory effort.
