PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (June 10, 2020) – On Monday, June 15 at 7 p.m., join Governor Gina Raimondo, the Rhode Island Department of Education, and Rhode Island PBS, in association with Coast 93.3, for Your Year 2020, a statewide graduation celebration to honor some 9,000 Rhode Island high school seniors. The star-studded show will feature members of the Class of 2020 as well as local and national celebrities.
The show include graduates in short videos of their favorite memorable moments from senior year. Top finalists in a singing competition among graduating seniors will also be included in the broadcast and the winner announced at the end of the show. Plus, highlights of speeches by class valedictorians will inspire classmates, and more than 50 musicians in high school marching bands across the state will perform the traditional graduation march, Pomp and Circumstance.
Viola Davis, winner of an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards, will deliver the keynote commencement address. Billy Gilman, two-time Grammy Award nominee and runner-up on The Voice, will perform his single, “Soldier.” Erika Van Pelt, a top-10 contestant on American Idol, will sing the National Anthem.

Your Year 2020 will be televised Monday, June 15 at 7 p.m. on WSBE Rhode Island PBS (digital 36.1; Cox 08 / 1008HD, Verizon FiOS 08 / 508HD, and Full Channel 08; Comcast 819HD and Verizon FiOS 18 / 518HD in MA; DirecTV 36, Dish Network 36).
