On September 9, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Matthew Moniz with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of third-degree sexual assault.

The alleged acts occurred in the city of East Providence sometime between February 1 and June 30, 2019. The East Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant was arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on September 15, 2020. He is currently being held without bail while he awaits his next court appearance.
