MEANS, the Music Education Association of North Smithfield (the high school parents music booster organization), is raffling two tickets to see the Tony Award winning production at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Friday evening, December 3, 2021. The seats are spectacular, Orchestra Center, Golden Circle at a value of over $400.

But that’s not all! You will also be entered to win two other prizes, the first being a chance to play the “whip” in a performance of “Sleigh Ride” at the winter holiday concert, or you can win a visit from the North Smithfield HS Christmas carolers. If you are not a resident of North Smithfield, you can “gift” your caroling prize to a resident!

Only 300 tickets are being sold, so act quickly! Here’s how you can win. Go to the MEANS Facebook page, the NS school website or Facebook page, or on the town newsletter page that will be direct you to a secure site that will allow you to buy as many tickets, at $20 each, as you would like. If you are not a winner, your donation is tax deductible!

This fund raiser is being held to assist in the student Disney trip being held in the Spring of 2022. MEANS is dedicated to the student musicians of North Smithfield music programs, giving them the support needed for success. They are a parent group that assists all facets of the music programs including volunteering at all music events: assisting in uniform distribution, marching in parades, working at the concerts, chaperoning trips as well as competitions, purchases, etc. In past years the organization has helped purchase new band uniforms, refurbish the Steinway Grand piano and many other activities.

Please consider helping this worthwhile fundraiser, and You, just might be in the Hamilton audience!

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
