Senator Zurier sworn in to Rhode Island Senate

STATE HOUSE – Senator Samuel D. Zurier was sworn into the Rhode Island Senate in a State House ceremony this afternoon.

Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea administered the oath of office to Senator Zurier, a Democrat who won the election held Nov. 2 to represent District 3 on Providence’s East Side. The district was previously represented by former Senator Gayle L. Goldin, who resigned in August to serve in the Biden administration.

Senator-elect Zurier served on the Providence City Council from 2011 through 2018, and on the Providence School Board from 2000 to 2002. He co-founded several educational advocacy groups, and works as an attorney in private practice.
