Rep. Felix issues statement on cigar bar shooting, offers condolences to family of victim

STATE HOUSE — Rep. Leonela “Leo” Felix (D-Dist. 61, Pawtucket) has issued a statement on the shooting outside a cigar bar in Pawtucket that injured one man and claimed the life of another.

“When we witness gun violence in our city it leaves us all with a sense of loss and emptiness, yet filled with many questions about how this type of tragedy can be avoided. I would like to work with the city and the City Council to delve into this issue and address this violence to discover what we, as a community can do to prevent it. My heart goes out to the Kafo family during this period of mourning, and I pray for a speedy recovery for Mr. Vaz.”

The shooting took place early Monday morning outside the Fab City Cigar Lounge at 1438 Newport Ave. in Pawtucket, which is in House District 61, which Representative Felix represents. The men who were shot, both Pawtucket residents, were Qudus Kafo, who died, and Bruno P. Vaz, who remains hospitalized.
