GET READY TO HAVE THE GREENEST HOLIDAYS YET

There will be 12 challenges as we celebrate the 12 days of a green Christmas.

Join daily to learn many ways you can be greener this holiday.

REAL TREES

The good news - both can be kept out of your trash.

ARTIFICIAL TREES

REAL CHRISTMAS TREES

are completely biodegradable, and should not go in the trash. Instead return them to nature by:

-- Putting outside on your leaf pile. It can make a winter home for animals. Consider adding bird seed ornaments or hang fruit to attract animal visitors.

-- Take advantage of your municipal tree compost program. Many communities offer curbside pickup or have a drop-off for a few weeks after Christmas. In these programs the trees are kept separate so they can be made into compost.

-- Wreaths & Greenery. The cool thing is that wreaths and greenery are usually also accepted. Just make sure all the greenery is free of decorations, wire, and tinsel so it's back to all natural. Always check with your community if you have any questions.
