The Woonsocket Harris Public Library announces upcoming programs for preschoolers, school age children and teens.

 

Monday

Astronomy Club 7:30-8:30pm

Meets the first and third Monday of each month. This is an all ages program. Great for school age kids and also for adults interested in astronomy. This program is presented by Mark Munkacsy and is in partnership with Seagrave Observatory, Skyscrapers Inc. Contact Ms. Solitaire

 

Preschool Sensory Programs 10-11am

Sensory exploration fun January 2, 9, 23 February 20, March 6, 20 is a program where we put out a simple paper craft and lots of toys that promote fine and gross motor skills including puzzles.  This program alternates with Playdough Time January 30 February 13, 27, March 13, 27. Ms. Beth makes homemade playdough and prepackages it for preschoolers. We have rollers and cookie cutters for kids to play. Linda Brunetti from the Autism Project is here 10-12 for anyone who has questions about their services.

 

Tuesday 

Preschool Storytime every Tuesday 10:30-11:15am

Great for ages 2-5 years with caregiver. Children sing songs, listen to a story, play with puppets puzzles and board books and make a craft to take home.

 

Role Playing Game for Teens every Tuesday 3-4:30pm

Teens create characters and work together to go on adventure quests. Teens use problem solving and critical thinking skills in fictional universes. Roll dice to determine your fate. Contact Ed.

 

Wednesday

Preschool Music with Mr. Mohamed 11-11:45am

January 18, February 1, 15, March 1, 15

Mr. Mohamed brings his guitar and makes music for your little ones to listen and dance.

This program alternates with Sensory Exploration January 11, 25, Feb 8, 22, March 8, 22 where we just put out toys and fun things to play. Linda Brunetti from the Autism Project is here 10-12 for anyone who has questions about their services.

 

 

Book Buddies 4-4:45pm grades 1, 2, 3 and Teens 13-17

Every other Wednesday.

Since we match up kids to teens one to one we ask you call and reserve your child a spot.

Younger kids build their reading skills by reading to teens for 20 minutes. Then they make a craft or do an activity for the last 15minutes. Contact Ms. Chris

 

Zoom Book Club 3:30-4:30

Every other Wednesday. Must call to register to get zoom code.

Great for grades 4, 5, 6. Requires independent reading and at home activities then zoom together to talk about your favorite characters and plot ideas. Sometimes special guests from museums or local organizations will join and give their expertise on a topic. contact Ms. Solitaire

 

Thursday

Storytellers Learn to Act Teen Improv and Theater Class 3-4:30 every Thursday after school. No registration necessary. Walk-ins welcome. Presented by Kathleen Lester of Community Care Alliance.

 

Friday

Tunes-N-Tales with Anne Marie Forer 11-11:45am 

January 13, 27, February 10, 24, March 10, 24

Clap your hands, shake your shakers rhythm play and movement activities will get you out of your seats and interacting with your little one ages 2-5 years.

 

Teen Time every Friday 3-4:30pm after school

No registration. Walk-ins welcome. This is a place for teens to hang out and play video games and board games and have snacks with friends. 

 

Saturday

Lego Builders Club every Saturday 2-4pm 

Join us in the children's program room. Parent is required to be in the room for safety as these are the small Legos. We provide the Legos you provide the imagination. Build whatever you like with the pieces you have.  No registration required. Walk-ins welcome.

 

 

 

Many of the programs for younger children do not require registration but you may want to register to get cancellation notices, especially during winter months when cancellations can occur due to weather or sickness.
