Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful (KBVB)

is starting a series of walking groups to clean up our environment in collaboration with

“Keep Rhody Litter Free!” 

launched by Governor Daniel McKee and spokesperson First Lady Susan McKee.

 

 

KEEP BLACKSTONE VALLEY BEAUTIFUL

will hold a walk in each of our ten RI Blackstone Valley communities, with the first walk being in 

North Smithfield on Thursday, February 23rd at 1 pm.

 

North Smithfield is honored to have First Lady Susan McKee kick off our new spring anti-litter walking initiative, here in North Smithfield on February 23d, to highlight the importance of ending litter in our state.

 

Rhode Island is leading the way promoting “Keep Rhody Litter Free” with an award-winning website to encourage all Rhode Islanders to help clean up our outdoor spaces and preserve our natural heritage.

Walks will last approximately an hour. The North Smithfield route will be 2 miles, map hereto get a little exercise as we carry our grabbers and pick up any litter we see.

To join, sign up hereWalkers will join us at the Town Hall parking lot, 83 Greene Street. Weather delays will push the walk to Friday of the same week.

North Smithfield Heritage Association

The NSHA plans to conduct a Heritage Walk at 9:30 am this coming Saturday to inspect a quarry, historic cemeteries, and colonial-era homesteads in the area of Woonsocket Reservoir #3. The walk covers about two miles of trails and woodlands.

Meet at the NS High School Tennis Courts on Grange Road.

North Smithfield Food Pantry

 

 

February Food Pantry pick-up dates:

 

 

Saturday, February 18th & 25th @ 10:00 am

 

Tuesday, February 21st & 28th @ 5:30 pm



The Food Pantry is for North Smithfield residents.

You must have a photo ID and a bill that confirms your North Smithfield address. You can

attend the Food Pantry all four times it is open per month.

The Pantry is located at the Slatersville Congregational Church

UCC on the Common.

 

Starting in the month of May we will be opening our pantry for indoor shopping. We are

asking that all clients to please bring their own shopping bag and to wear a mask while inside.

Live Streaming Open Meetings

 

 

LIVESTREAMING OPEN MEETINGS

A. Livestreaming for Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board and Planning Board: The Town will provide livestreaming for the open meetings of the Town Council, Halliwell Review Committee, Zoning Board of Review, and Planning Board whenever feasible via YouTube, Zoom, or some other technology. If technical difficulties occur during the livestream of an open meeting, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled without livestreaming. (Livestreaming increases public access to public meetings in addition to the right of the public to attend open meetings in person.)

B. Public must be physically present to participate. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, expert s, etc. who want to participate in an open meeting in any fashion must be physically present at the meeting. Members of the public, applicants, petitioners, experts, etc. will not be allowed to participate in an open meeting remotely by offering comment, testimony, or other remarks. through virtual means.

C. No other Board, Commission, or Committee will be livestreamed: Except as specified above, the Town will not provide livestreaming for any other Board, Commission or Committee.

D. Technical Difficulties: If technical difficulties occur during any livestream, the open meeting will continue to proceed as scheduled.
