SAN DIEGO - Petty Officer 3rd Class Ian Holcomb, a native of Burrillville, Rhode Island, serves the U.S. Navy aboard one of the country’s most versatile combat ships, USS Cincinnati, operating out of San Diego, California.

Holcomb, a 2016 Burrillville High School graduate, joined the Navy three years ago.

“I joined the Navy because the military ran in my family, and I felt as though I could continue the tradition,” said Holcomb. "I also wanted the opportunity to see the world. I felt like I couldn’t do that without joining. I hope one day to be a person that someone else looks up to, whether it be my kids or someone else.”

Skills and values learned in the Navy are similar to those found in Burrillville.
