40th AUTUMNFEST PARADE PLANS IN FULL SWING

Woonsocket – The 2018 Autumnfest Parade steps off Monday, October 8, 2018, Columbus Day, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island at 9:30 AM. The parade route is 2.5 miles departing the Woonsocket Plaza and ending on Worrall Street, near the Woonsocket Post Office, via Diamond Hill Road and Social Street. Providing a tremendous exposure for the participants, the entire 10 division parade is streamed LIVE on WOON Radio’s website (www.woonsocketradio.com) and also filmed and broadcast later on the public access channels via Cox Communication, which highlights information and accomplishments of the participants. The live parade draws more than 40,000 attendees.

“Plans are well under way and all is looking spectacular,” said Autumnfest Parade Coordinator Joe Martin. Former First-General Chairwoman of Autumnfest, Loraine Cloutier and former Autumnfest Steering Committee member Flo Bourget will be assisting Martin with this major task.

The theme of this year’s Autumnfest Parade will be “40 Years of Autumnfest Memories.”  The Autumnfest Parade will again feature “The All-American Veteran’s Division”. This division will host various military bands, marchers, military vehicle and most important, this nations honored veterans. Flo Bourget says, “We are always looking for floats.”  Float Judges will award five trophies in the following categories:  “Most Beautiful”, “Maple Leaf Award”, “Best in Parade”, “Most Creative” and the “Judges Award”. In past years, large numbers of floats registered and competed for these prestigious awards. With a 25-float limit, it would be wise to register early.

Invitation letters have been forwarded to more than 25 marching bands as the Autumnfest Parade Committee is also seeking floats and special entries for this year’s parade. Autumnfest Promoter Sponsors will receive a banner in the parade, in addition to other acknowledgments. Those interested in sponsoring a band may contact Garrett Mancieri at (401)-651-1519.

As for all other parade entries, last year’s participants should have received an invitation and this year’s entry forms. Additional information and entry forms may be accessed on the Autumnfest website (www.autumnfest.org). For further information, contact Joe Martin at (413) 212-0953.
