The Health Equity Zone (HEZ) of Woonsocket will host a farmers market to celebrate National Nutrition Month®. The event will be held at Thundermist Health Center of Woonsocket at 450 Clinton Street on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The farmers market will include fresh vegetables and fruits and children’s activities. The event will feature a heart-healthy cooking demonstration from University of Rhode Island SNAP Education Program and resources from WIC. Attendees can purchase fresh produce and products from local farms and businesses.

“The farmers market is a great opportunity to learn how to increase nutrition with fruits and vegetables,” said Tara Cimini, Thundermist Food Access Team. “Families who otherwise may not have access to healthy food choices are able to gain access to these resources at the market.”

Thundermist Grows! Community Garden Calendars are available for purchase. Customers using SNAP/EBT can double their money for fresh, local fruits, vegetables, and herbs, courtesy of Farm Fresh RI.
