Automatic Renewals

Ocean State Libraries will institute automatic renewals for its cardholders beginning Monday, December 10, 2018.  All eligible items will automatically renew two (2) days before their due date.  The new due date will be extended from the original due date, adding another loan period.  There is no need to sign up for this new service.  Checkouts from eZone are excluded—these cannot be renewed automatically.

Some items may not renew if:

  • The item does not allow renewals
  • The item is on hold (another patron is waiting for it)
  • The item has reached its renewal limit (2 renewals)
  • The patron’s card has expired or borrowing privileges have been suspended due to an excess of more than $5.00 in fines, or if an  overdue notice has been sent for one or more items currently checked out.

If the item could not be renewed, patrons can receive Courtesy notices with the due date via email or text before it is due. Courtesy emails are sent to patrons with an email address on their account.

Learn how to opt-in to Text Alerts:
https://www.oslri.org/text-alerts

*Patrons are still responsible for any overdue fines for items returned late.
