Woonsocket, RI--Mayor Leo T. Fontaine along with The United Veteran’s Council (UVC) of Woonsocket proudly announce the annual Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 27, 2013.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) today announced the establishment of a single-lane alternating traffic pattern on the Slatersville Stone Arch Bridge, which carries Route 5 (Providence Pike) over the Branch River in North Smithfield. A recent bridge inspection found deterioration that requires this change to ensure the safe use of the bridge while RIDOT repairs it.

 In addition to civic groups, Veterans and the North Smithfield High School Marching band, this year’s Memorial Day parade will feature the famous Newport Pipes and Drums Band.

The Summertime Healthy Living program in North Smithfield kicks off on Slatersville Common, under the trees, with free Yoga classes.
