On June 3rd, 2014 the Public Works Department awarded a bid to sell approximately 14.53 tons of structural steel from a former road and bridge project. The structural steel had been abandoned at the train depot for many years and the city was requested to have it removed. The removal of this surplus steel generated $2615.40 to the city’s general fund and addressed a long standing problem. Full Circle Recycling, located in Johnston, was the highest bidder at .09 per pound.
