In July 2012, the U.S. Congress passed and President Barack Obama signed into law the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012, which reauthorized the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through September 30, 2017. The NFIP is a federal program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The traffic signal has been erected to provide a better flow of traffic over the historic Stone Arch Bridge in Slatersville. RIDOT has this bridge scheduled for replacement sometime in early 2014. Due to damage recently sustained to a parapet, DOT decided to restrict traffic down to one lane, to reduce potential for additional damage to that side of the bridge.
This year’s 7th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival will host the first “North Smithfield’s Got Talent“.
The Town of North Smithfield is in a friendly competition with the City of Cranston. FIND YOUR FOUR, a program sponsored by National Grid, to help residents reduce energy consumption, is coming in to the home stretch.

Concert on the Common
Historic Slatersville Common will be filled with family entertainment, featuring the "Hummingbird Trio" singers.
For those who love Big Band, Swing, and Jazz, listening to The Hummingbird Trio breathe life into "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "In the Mood", "Son of a Preacher Man", and "This Will Be" will make you want to jump out of your seat and start dancing!
Lawn chairs or blankets are suggested. Refreshments are available for purchase.
Please bring canned goods for the NS Food Pantry.
The Farmers and Artisan Market opens at 5:00 p.m.
In the event of rain, the concert will be in the Slatersville Congregational Church.
