Arizona's near-total abortion ban is still law. The Civil War-era law outlaws the procedure except to save the life of the woman and threatens providers with prison sentences between two and five years. The state's House did not repeal law on Wednesday following Democratic lawmakers attempt to do so.        The Senate is dismissing the first article of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The Democratic-led chamber voted in favor of Senator Schumer's point of order declaring the article is unconstitutional because it doesn't allege any impeachable offense. The point of order passed along party lines.        The President of Columbia University faced a grilling by lawmakers Wednesday on Capitol Hill today regarding antisemitism on campus. New York Republican Elise Stefanik said Columbia is not taking enough action against faculty members who spew anti-Israel rhetoric. Columbia President Minouche [[ min-oosh ]] Shafik said, although initially unprepared, the university has taken multiple steps following the swarm of protests in response to the October 7th attack on Israel.        The cause of last year's deadly Maui fire is still unknown. The Maui Fire Department released an after-action report on Tuesday on how it responded to the wildfires. The report includes over a dozen "recommendations and considerations," like the need for more firefighting equipment.        The senior NPR editor who exposed alleged rampant liberal bias has resigned. Twenty-five year NPR vet Uri Berliner was suspended after suggesting an open-minded spirit no longer exists and NPR has lost the trust of America. He claimed the outlet didn't investigate whether allegations that former President Trump colluded with Russia were correct, the COVID lab-leak theory and Hunter Biden's laptop story.        President Biden is weighing in on Caitlin Clark's salary controversy. The Iowa superstar will earn just over 338-thousand dollars over the next four years after being selected first by the WNBA's Indiana Fever and, by comparison, Spurs rookie star Victor Wembanyama - the Number one pick in last year's NBA Draft - signed a 55-million dollar four-year contract. Biden posted that while women in sports are pushing boundaries, "even if you're the best, women are not paid their fair share."
