Lawyers for the family of Ashley Flores say they are suing Los Angeles County and Sheriff Jim McDonnell for gross negligence and failure to provide adequate training. The family claims they made at least five 9-1-1 calls on Christmas Eve because their eleven-year-old daughter was having trouble breathing, and each call was answered by the same deputy, forwarded to a wrong number, and by the last call, Ashley had stopped breathing. The L.A. County Sheriff Department says it doesn't comment on pending litigation, but has opened its own investigation.        The woman who passed as black while serving as the president of the Spokane, Washington chapter of the NAACP is being charged with welfare fraud. Rachel Dolezal is accused of illegally receiving over eight-thousand-dollars in food assistance and one-hundred-dollars in childcare assistance in 2017. She reported an income of 300-dollars a month while receiving the public assistance. However, her bank statements show that she made almost 84-thousand dollars between August of 2015 and September of 2017.
