NORTH SMITHFIELD – The Water Department will conduct a water main flushing in the Slatersville, Forestdale, Great Road, Mendon Road and the Industrial Park areas area on Monday, April15th through Thursday,
April 18th beginning at 9:00 PM and continuing until 3:00 AM.
“The flushing program is an integral component of the water department’s maintenance program,” said Russ Carpenter, water and sewer superintendent. “The program enhances the water quality for the area’s residents and businesses.”
Carpenter said water main flushing may cause temporary reduction in water pressure throughout the water system and in some cases may cause discolored water which is not harmful.
“We recommend that water use be minimized during the flushing operation including using water to wash clothes and dishes,” said Carpenter. “Please check your water before use. If it is discolored, run the cold water until it clears.”
For more information, call the water department at 767-2200, ext. 320 or ext. 305 between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
