BOSTON - Once again, the elite runners of Team Moore, the running team sponsored by Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge, made a strong showing in the Eighth Annual Bellingham Challenge 5K Road Race. The race was held at Bellingham High School to benefit the Bellingham Junior Varsity Girls' Lacrosse Team.

Sen. Moore and all three of his team's runners wore blue and yellow ribbons emblazoned with the words, "Boston Strong 2013" to honor the victims of the April 15th bombing at the Boston Marathon. "The bombing was a tragedy that changed the lives of more than those who were killed or injured," Moore explained. "Everyone, especially those who love running, whether athlete or fan, will be forever linked by resilience and resolve to the strength of our capital city and Commonwealth," he noted.

Of the three team members participating in this race, Captain Russ Trottier of Sutton came in fourth overall among the runners with a time of 19:00. He was followed by Tim McLaughlin of Millville in fifth place with a time of 19:24. Team member Andy Barron of Norwood placed forty-seventh with a time of 24:51. Trottier won a first place medal for leading the 30-39 age category, and McLaughlin was awarded a first place medal in the 19-29 age group.

Trottier, who lives in Sutton with his wife, Kelly, and sons Mason, Mitchell, Colin, and Cole, is a 1999 graduate of Northbridge High School and 2003 graduate of Bridgewater State University. He was captain of cross-country and track teams at both high school and college levels. He is manager of electronic tolling for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. McLaughlin is a 2012 graduate of Blackstone-Millville Regional High School where he captained the Varsity Soccer and Baseball Teams, and has attended Stonehill College this year. In July, he will enter the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Both men have interned with Senator Moore at the State House.

Andy Barron, formerly of Uxbridge, is a 1998 graduate of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Tech High School and a 2002 graduate of Westfield State University where he was captain of the Cross-Country Team. He has also coached cross-country and track at several area colleges.

Team Moore is a frequent participant in area road races in an effort to support local charities.
