Clean & Green Day


The 11th annual Clean & Green Day held on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 collected 5.53 tons of trash and recycling from North Smithfield. During the past 11 years over 55 tons of litter has been collected from the town by hundreds dedicated volunteers.

NORTH SMITHFIELD – The 11th annual Clean & Green Day held on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 collected 5.53 tons of trash and recycling from North Smithfield. During the past 11 years over 55 tons of litter has been collected from the town by hundreds dedicated volunteers.

“I would like to thank our residents that come together for this important event,” stated Paulette Hamilton, Town Administrator, “The headquarters workers, clean up teams and our sponsors all played an important part in the effort.”

This year a record of over 250 volunteers per-registered. Over 500 volunteers participated in the 2013 event which the town holds as its Earth Day Celebration. This large group of volunteers was able to cover over 75% of the roads in town.

In addition to cleaning up the town volunteers brought in goods for the NS Food Pantry. A 32 gallon barrel was overflowing with the nonperishable items donated during the event.
