On September 12, 2013 at approximately 2:14 A.M. the Woonsocket Police were called to 65/67 West Park Place for a report of a home invasion/robbery in progress with shots fired. As officers arrived they secured the perimeter of the apartment building. Officer Matthew Labine was in the rear of the building and noticed two suspects exiting the basement of the building. When the suspects noticed the officers in the yard they turned and ran back into the building. Officer Labine saw that one of the suspects, later identified as David Bunnell, was holding a sawed off shotgun by his side. He entered the building and at gun point instructed Bunnell and the other suspect, Tyronne Seams, to show their hands. Both suspects complied and were taken into custody without further incident or injury.
It was determined through the investigation that Bunnell and Seams went to this address with the intent to rob the second floor tenants of narcotics and money. During the robbery multiple gunshots were fired inside the apartment resulting in three people being injured. Two of the subjects received multiple gunshot wounds and are currently being treated at Rhode Island Hospital; the third person was treated at Landmark Medical Center for a minor injury.
Woonsocket Police have identified the two robbery suspects, Tyronne Seams and David Bunnell, and currently have them in custody. Tyronne A. Seams (27 of 163 Farm St., Woonsocket) is being charged with assault with dangerous weapon in dwelling house, and possession of cocaine.
