NORTH SMITHFIELD – North Smithfield has received an award of $7,500 from National Grid. Smart Power, a non-profit organization that promotes renewable and sustainable energy, has partnered with National Grid in a competition to get 5% of a municipality to sign up for the Rhode Island Energy Challenge: Find Your Four. North Smithfield was the first community in the state to meet this challenge and the money will be used to invest in energy conservation. The four steps of the challenge are to log onto the website, sign the challenge, find four energy actions and then start saving.

The Town was awarded this grant at a press conference and casual community breakfast to highlight North Smithfield’s achievement in signing up the equivalent of 5% of households and announcing the city of Warwick and the Boys and Girls Club of Warwick as new partners in the Rhode Island Energy Challenge.
