Woonsocket Prevention Coalition
In response to the significant increase in Overdose deaths in Rhode Island, the Woonsocket, Burrillville, Cumberland, Lincoln, N. Smithfield, Pawtucket and Scituate Prevention Coalitions will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 9:00 am at AMICA, George Washington Highway, Building 100, Lincoln, R.I. At that time, the Coalitions will be providing information and an open discussion on current issues regarding community prevention strategies that address Prescription Drug Abuse and Overdose Prevention. Dr. James McDonald, MD, MPH, Chief Administrative Officer from the Department of Health will be a keynote speaker with John Femino, MD, as well as panel members representing numerous sectors within the communities.
As leaders in the prevention field inRhode Island, the Coalitions act as effective, organized coalitions of community leaders with a goal of “developing, implementing and advocating for effective, community-based prevention initiatives.” Our vision includes the development of a safe and drug-free community for all residents.
At this time, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend this event. We would be pleased if you would join us in a discussion about the topics of prescription drug abuse and overdose prevention in our community, as well as strategies for protecting and supporting the efforts of our communities in making our neighborhoods safe, healthy and drug-free, especially for our youth.
