NORTH SMITHFIELD – The Rhode Island Department of Health’s Medical Emergency Distribution System includes two upcoming training sessions that are of interest to the Town of North Smithfield.

 April 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM- RIFM Crowd Manager Course @ Village Haven Restaurant, Forestdale, RI. This course will introduce Point of Dispensing (POD) safety officers to the methods and lessons of managing large crowds during POD activations. Instructors will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of crowd management and safety issues related to mass dispensing of medications or vaccines in a public health emergency.  April 14, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM- POD Security Unit Leader Training @ Burrillville Municipal Court Room. This course will orient municipal police officers and security personnel to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) program and the RI Medical Emergency Distribution system (MEDs). Instructors will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of security issues related to mass dispensing of medications or vaccines in a public health emergency
