Mount Saint Charles Academy Celebrates 90th Anniversary with 49th Annual Pops Concert

Woonsocket-  Mount Saint Charles Academy's annual Pops Concert will be held  on Saturday, May 17th at 7:30pm and again on Sunday, May 18th at 2:00pm. This year's event will be a traditional Pops Concert in the Academy's gymnasium with round tables set up and wait staff serving food and beverages throughout the night for guests to enjoy.

The concert will feature Mount's bands and jazz bands. As a special guest for the celebration and member of the Academy's Fine Arts Hall of Fame, Mount will welcome Ronald Blais from the Class of 1970. Marc Blanchette, Mount's Music Director, said, "Ron Blais was a trumpet player in the Mount band who went on to become a principal trumpet soloist of the US Air Force band. He currently lives in California and performs on Broadway and with various symphony orchestras. He also records scores for films and video games. It's an honor and privilege," Blanchette said,  "to have him back here for this year's Pops Concert as we celebrate Mount's 90th anniversary."

The Pops Concert is an annual event which began in the 1970's as an outdoor performance.  Early on, the event was moved indoors where it has been held annually for many years.  In 2009, the outdoor pops concert was revived. Every four years, this tradition will continue and will be brought to the lower field of Mount's campus for "Pops on the Green."

All tickets for this year's concert will be reserved seating with tables accommodating up to 6 people.  Please call the Academy's Main Office at 401-769-0310 for tickets.
