President Trump is now claiming the Jeffrey Epstein files are a "new scam" created by Democrats. Trump lashed out Wednesday at Republicans clamoring for the release of the documents, and called them "past supporters" who have bought into it "hook, line and sinker." Trump supporters have been calling for the release of the Epstein client list for years.        Senate Republicans are giving the green light to cut funding for public broadcasting. GOP lawmakers narrowly passed a package early this morning that would take back nine-billion dollars in spending that had already been approved. It's part of the efforts of President Trump's DOGE team that used to be run by billionaire Elon Musk.        First-time requests for unemployment benefits are down. Most analysts had been expecting the Labor Department to report a bit of an increase in the number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment assistance. Instead today's number came in at 221-thousand - down seven-thousand from the previous week's revised total.        The judge in the Bryan Kohberger trial will hear arguments today over a gag order on the case. The non-dissemination order keeps anyone directly involved in the case from speaking about it. Kohberger has pleaded guilty to the killing of four University of Idaho students in 2022. He's scheduled to be sentenced next week.        The National Park Service is defending its efforts to combat a wildfire at the Grand Canyon. Lightning started a wildfire on the North Rim on July 4th, and it has spread to more than nine-thousand acres since then with no containment. Arizona leaders started asking questions after the wildfire destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge.        Lady Gaga has kicked off her world tour in Las Vegas. T-Mobile Arena was packed Wednesday night for the opening show of "The Mayhem Ball." The 39-year-old superstar put on a theatrical performance featuring hits from her latest album as well as her classics. The Lady Gaga tour will be stopping in New York, Miami and Chicago before heading to Europe.
