Governor McKee Nominates Simon J. Wood to Rhode Island Commerce Corporation Board 

 

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee has nominated Simon J. Wood to serve on the board of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation. 

 

“As we work to continue our economic momentum, support small businesses, and raise per capita income across Rhode Island, Simon’s extensive background in finance and strategic planning will be an asset to the board of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation," said Governor Dan McKee. “I thank the Senate for their consideration of this nomination.” 

 

Wood, who has decades of experience in financial management reporting analysis and business evaluation, currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis and Business Evaluation for IGT, a NYSE global gaming company. Previously, Wood worked at Jarden Corporation as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of its Branded Consumables segment.

I look forward to helping the Board achieve its goal to increase sustainable economic development in Rhode Island,” said Simon Wood, the newest nominee to the Commerce Corporation board. 

 

Wood received his Executive MBA in Management from New York University’s Stern School of Business and has a bachelor’s degree in management sciences from the University of Warwick in England. 

 

The Governor has submitted Wood’s name to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
