Historian Marty Podskoch, author of the book The Rhode Island Civilian Conservation Corps Camps: Their History, Memories, and Legacy will be giving a Power Point presentation on the 92nd Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps and work in RI at the library. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began on March 31, 1933 under President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” to relieve the poverty and unemployment of the depression. In Rhode Island seven CCC camps were established, including Woonsocket/Primrose in North Smithfield.
