RIPTA Urges Passengers to Sign Up for Service Alerts as Winter Storm Approaches

 

 

 

Heavy Snow Could Make Travel Difficult

 

 

 

Providence, Rhode Island -- As a winter storm is forecast to impact Rhode Island this weekend, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is urging passengers to prepare for possible service delays, detours and cancellations by signing up for email alerts at RIPTA.com.

 

 

 

Service updates will be available at RIPTA.com/alerts, as well as RIPTA’s social media accounts (Facebook @RideRIPTA, X/Twitter @RIPTA_RI) and through the Transit app. Passengers are also encouraged to monitor local news reports for the latest weather conditions.

 

 

 

Passengers are advised to be prepared for delays in service and be aware that service may be suspended if travel becomes unsafe. Riders are asked to plan accordingly, and to please remember that safety is RIPTA’s top priority.

How to Sign Up for Email Alerts

 

RIPTA is pleased to offer service updates by route, so you can receive information that may impact you. This service provides subscribers with information about detours, temporary service disruptions and service changes on the routes they ride. To sign up for route-specific email alerts, visit RIPTA.com/schedules. Click on the route you would like to receive alerts for and then click on “Receive Updates for This Schedule.” Enter your email address in the form that pops up and then click “Subscribe.” You will now receive service information regarding that bus route.
