Joseph Felix (age 41)

East Providence, RI

On September 30, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Joseph Felix with one count of first-degree sexual assault. 

 

The alleged act occurred in the city of Cranston sometime between April 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 21, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Brian Silva (age 32)

Warwick, RI

On September 30, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Brian Silva with one count of first-degree child molestation, one count of second-degree child molestation, and one count of simple assault and battery. 

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Pawtucket sometime between June 30, 2016 and June 30, 2018. The Pawtucket Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 21, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Paul Raposo (age 26)

Woonsocket, RI

On September 30, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Paul Raposo with one count of murder; one count of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, resulting in death; one count of carrying a pistol without a license; one count of failing to report a death; and one count of firing in a compact area.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Woonsocket sometime on June 26, 2020. The Woonsocket Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 14, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI).

The Senate is planning to vote once again to try to end the government shutdown. Senate Democrats refuse to vote for a House funding resolution unless it extends health insurance subsidies used by over 20-million people. Democratic leaders have demanded a meeting with President Trump to resolve the issue. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson says Trump will meet with Democrats "as soon as Senator Chuck Schumer reopens the government."        NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte [[ RUH-tuh ]] will meet with President Trump today in Washington. The meeting, announced on short notice, comes after a possible summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was canceled. Trump spoke to Putin last week about efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war.        A federal ICE operation in Manhattan has drawn push back after it erupted into chaos. Agents clashed with hundreds of bystanders Tuesday afternoon during a crackdown on illegal street vendors. The incident unfolded in Chinatown, in an area well known for its rows of counterfeit merchandise.        New forecasts suggest that the most intense portion of an anticipated atmospheric river set to hit the Pacific Northwest may have shifted. Light rain is forecast for much of the region Wednesday ahead of a more powerful system with its strongest impacts targeting southern Oregon and Northern California later in the week. For elevations above five-thousand-feet in the Cascade Mountains, snow accumulations could reach two-feet or more in some areas.        Former Republican Senator John Sununu is launching a bid for New Hampshire's Senate seat. Sununu served the Granite State in the Senate until he lost a re-election bid to Senator Jeanne Shaheen in 2008. Shaheen announced earlier this year that she would not seek re-election. Now, Sununu will enter a competitive primary ahead of an open battleground race next November.        The NFL is moving the Pro Bowl Games into Super Bowl week starting this season. Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the move during the league's annual fall owners meeting. The game features a flag football contest between the AFC and NFC on Tuesday February 3rd, in the Bay Area. This change aligns with Super Bowl LX [[ 60 ]] at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
