"When I dropped off the gifts, she just started crying, she was so incredibly happy but she couldn't hold her tears back. She sent her husband to finish talking with me because she was too emotional. She later told me that she was still in tears and couldn't believe what just took place. She said the guilt of not being able to provide for her family, let alone gifts, has been difficult to say the least. To be able to provide something fun for all the children this Christmas absolutely meant the world to this family." —James Guzzi, Case Manager, speaking about a family he works with

The Dow is up over 400 points this hour. Nearly all investors are keeping watch once again on the short-selling battle on Wall Street involving GameStop and other retail stocks. GameStop stock is currently trending upward once again. Wall Street is also positive this morning after learning weekly initial jobless claims dropped slightly.        President Biden will sign a series of executive orders today aimed at increasing health care coverage during the pandemic. One of those directives will temporarily reopen health insurance exchanges through the ACA to help Americans who lost their coverage. He is also expected to make it easier for low-income households to gain access to Medicaid.        Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the platform is "turning down the temperature" on political discussions. He says the company will no longer be recommending civic and political groups to its users. This comes as Facebook has faced scrutiny over its handling of political speech following the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol earlier this month.        President Biden is pledging to provide any assistance to the state of Alabama in the wake of a destructive tornado. That twister destroyed dozens of homes and businesses in Jefferson County on Monday, and resulted in at least one death. Biden made the pledge after speaking with Governor Kay Ivey about the severity of the damage.        Americans are remembering the lives of seven astronauts who died 35 years ago today in the Challenger disaster. The space shuttle exploded just 73 seconds after liftoff at about 46-thousand feet in the air, and was being broadcast live to millions nationwide. It is considered one of the deadliest tragedies in America's space program, and a faulty O-ring and cold weather have been blamed for the incident.        Today is Data Privacy Day, and Americans are being urged to update and safeguard their personal information. Experts say everyone should take the day to update passwords, check bank statements, and set privacy settings on all smart devices. They say these small steps can make a big difference in protecting your online profile.
