DOG LICENSES

 

All dogs within the town must be licensed by April 30, 2021 to avoid a late fee. The cost is $6.00 per dog and proof of rabies immunization is required. 

 

Due to COVID-19, for your convenience and safety, we have obtained a new online dog license program. We encourage you to use this online program.

If you are unable to access this program, we strongly suggest that you mail us a new or updated rabies certificate along with a check for $6.00. In return, our office will send your original rabies certificate back to you with your license to the mailing address provided.

 

If none of the options above work for you, licenses are available at the Town Clerk’s office located at

83 Greene Street

 

Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Thursday from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Friday from 8:00 A.M. to noon

Holiday Recycling Events

 

Christmas Trees CAN be RECYCLED

Live Trees: Are composted

Artificial Trees: Are recycled with scrap metal.

All trees must be free of ornaments, tinsel, lights and cannot be in plastic bags.

We will be offering a curbside pickup for live trees starting

Thursday, December 28, 2020 through January 15, 2021. ,

Live trees will be picked up by DPW on your trash day. 

Pickups are weather permitting.

 

  Residents can also bring the trees to DPW when our recycling center is open.

 

 

RECYCLING CENTER WINTER HOURS

 

Recycling Center drop off hours are:

 

Starting January 2, 2021 Recycling Center drop off hours are Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM, until April 1, 2021. Residents will not be able to drop off outside those regular hours. Residents are welcome to bring yard waste or accepted recyclables. The town offers free drop off for ridged plastic and scrap metal items as well as used motor oil. Please do not leave items outside the gate after business hours, we will take notice!

Tuesdays, January 19 and 26 from 5:30-6 pm

Saturdays, January 23 and 30 from 10-10:30 am

The Food Pantry is for North Smithfield residents. 

You must have a photo ID and a bill that confirms your North Smithfield address. 

The Pantry is located at the Slatersville Congregational Church UCC on the Common. 

Due to the pandemic, the food is distributed through a drive through at the church. Please stay in your car and line up on Green Street and you will be welcomed and instructed.

The Pentagon is ordering two Army battalions or about 15-hundred soldiers to be ready for possible deployment to Minnesota. President Trump has said he may invoke the Insurrection Act as a result of the unrest, however on Friday, he said he may not use it any more. It comes as anti-ICE protests continue in the state after the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an agent in Minneapolis.        President Trump isn't ruling out military force as steps up efforts to acquire Greenland. In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump was asked if the U.S. would use force to seize the Danish territory, to which he said "no comment." Over the weekend, the President said he would put ten-percent tariffs in place on Denmark and other European countries until a deal was reached for the U.S. to buy Greenland.        The Supreme Court will hear arguments this week on whether states can ban guns on private property that's open to the public. At the center of Tuesday's case is a Hawaii law that does just that, unless a gun owner has specific permission from the property owner. Similar laws are in effect in California, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey.        Travelers who don't have a REAL ID will soon have another option. TSA ConfirmID will roll out an optional process on February 1st seeking "biographic and/or biometric information" to confirm a traveler's identity. The agency recommends completing the optional TSA ConfirmID process before arriving at the airport and there will be a 45-dollar fee meant "to cover verification of an insufficient ID."        The Buffalo Bills are firing head coach Sean McDermott. In a statement, the team said McDermott helped changed the organization's mindset and was instrumental in turning the Bills into a perennial playoff team. McDermott had been head coach of the Bills since 2017 and made the playoffs every season besides 2018. It comes after the Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in overtime on Saturday and were eliminated from the playoffs.        "Avatar: Fire and Ash" remains on top at the box office for the fifth straight week. The film took in just over 13 million dollars over the weekend for a total of over one-point-three billion dollars globally. It claimed the top spot over "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple," which fell well short of its 20-million dollars in projected earnings for the holiday weekend.
