Oscar Hernandez (age 47)

Central Falls, RI

On February 9, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Oscar Hernandez with four counts of first-degree child molestation and three counts of second-degree child molestation. 

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Pawtucket on diverse dates between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016. The Pawtucket Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 3, 2021 in Providence County Superior Court. 

 

 

Elder Duarte (age 23)

Providence, RI

On February 9, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Elder Duarte with one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of domestic simple assault. 

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on October 30, 2020.The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 3, 2021 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Nigel Nichols (age 35)

ACI, Cranston, RI

On February 9, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Nigel Nichols with one count of murder, one count of discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, three counts of discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in injury, one count of discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle, and one count of illegal possession of a firearm.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on October 2, 2011. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is currently serving multiple life sentences at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) for a 2009 double murder. He will be scheduled for arraignment in Providence County Superior Court at a future date.

People are protesting on the streets in Minneapolis after an ICE agent shot and killed a woman yesterday. It happened in a neighborhood during an enforcement operation when a federal agent opened fire on American citizen Renee Nicole Good. After the shooting, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the woman refused commands to get out of her vehicle, and tried to harm the officer with the car.        A manhunt has begun for the person who killed two people and injured six others outside a church in Utah. Police say a funeral was taking place at an LDS church in Salt Lake City Wednesday when an altercation broke out in the parking lot and shots were fired at a group of people. Of those injured, three are in critical condition.        The Senate is voting today on a resolution that would block President Trump from taking further action in Venezuela without congressional approval. The bipartisan war powers resolution is sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine, California Democrat Adam Schiff and Kentucky Republican Rand Paul. The measure only needs a simple majority to pass.        A number of Minnesota officials have testified at a Congressional hearing on government fraud allegations involving daycares and other services in the state. Three Republican state lawmakers are appearing before the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, including Representative Kristin Robbins who urged the investigation isn't about Islamophobia. That committee's chairman, Representative James Comer, has also invited Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison to testify at a future hearing.        Today marks the 15th anniversary of the deadly Southern Arizona shooting at an event hosted by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. On January 8th, 2011, a gunman opened fire at a Tucson grocery store were the event was being held. Six people were killed, including a nine-year-old girl, and over a dozen were wounded. Among the injured was Giffords, who was shot in the head.        The Miami Dolphins have fired head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons. Team owner Stephen Ross announced the news Thursday, stating the organization is in need of a "comprehensive change. " McDaniel told reporters on Monday that he would be part of the team's interviews to hire a new general manager.
