RIPTA Administrative Offices Will Be Closed on the Holiday

 

 

Providence, Rhode Island, September 30, 2021 -- The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule for all fixed-route and paratransit service on Monday, October 11, 2021 for the Columbus Day Holiday. All RIPTA offices will be closed on the Monday holiday.

 

RIPTA Flex Routes will not be operating on the holiday except for Flex Route 203 (URI/Narragansett/South Kingstown) which will operate from 10 am to 5 pm.  The Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) and the RIde paratransit reservation line (461-9760) will not be staffed on the holiday.  However, Flex and RIde passengers can leave a detailed message on the appropriate phone lines if they want to schedule an upcoming trip.

Republican House leaders want the so-called "big, beautiful bill" on President Trump's desk by Friday, if possible. The Senate narrowly passed the massive spending package Tuesday morning. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he is not sure Republicans will have full attendance for a vote Wednesday morning on the rules package for the GOP megabill, as some lawmakers have not made it back to DC over bad storms.        A fireworks warehouse exploded Tuesday in Northern California, rocking the town of Esparto and sparking a wildfire about 40 miles north of Sacramento. Fire crews have been working through the night to put out hot spots, with a one-mile evacuation zone still in place. The blast sent smoke 15-thousand feet into the air and ignited a fire that's burned around 80 acres. No injuries are reported so far.        President Trump is threatening to arrest New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani if he interferes with immigration enforcement. Speaking from a new detention center in Florida, Trump targeted Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, warning that if he gets in ICE's way, "we'll have to arrest him." Trump also questioned Mamdani's citizenship status despite the fact he became a U.S. citizen in 2018.        Funeral plans are set for televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, who has passed away yesterday at age 90. A public viewing is scheduled for Saturday, July 12th, at the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, followed by a celebration of life service on Sunday evening.        A nine-year-old girl is dead after being left in a hot car outside while her mom went to work in Harris County, Texas. Deputies say the child was left alone around 6 a.m. and found unresponsive hours later. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.        A beloved halftime performer is hurt after falling off her unicycle during Tuesday night's WNBA Commissioner's Cup game. Red Panda, famous for juggling while riding a seven-foot unicycle, fell hard on the court and injured her wrist. Medics wheeled her off, and fans, including WNBA star Caitlin Clark, are sending support. Clark posted on Instagram, "Red Panda, we love you."
