Andrew Mangru (age 22)

On November 15, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Andrew Mangru with one count of murder, one count of discharging a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence, one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of using a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence, one count of domestic assault by strangulation, one count of simple assault, and one count of carrying a pistol without a license. The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on or about August 28, 2021. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 22, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

Efren Corona (age 65)

On November 15, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Efren Corona with two counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation. The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on various days and dates between October 12, 2016 and December 31, 2019. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on December 8, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

 
A large crowd attended a vigil in Minneapolis Wednesday for the woman who was shot to death by ICE agents. Federal authorities say 37-year-old Renee Good - an American citizen - was shot in self-defense Wednesday after she attempted to run over an ICE agent in her car. That claim is being disputed by the mayor of Minneapolis and others who have seen videos of the incident.        Venezuelan officials say a hundred people were killed in the U.S. raid that captured President Nicolas Maduro. Maduro's wife was also captured and reportedly sustained a head injury in the raid. The country has declared a week of mourning for the dead.        A manhunt is underway for whoever killed two people outside a church in Utah. Police say a funeral was taking place at an LDS church in Salt Lake City Wednesday when an altercation broke out in the parking lot and shots were fired at a group of people. They say there's no indication that it was a "targeted attack against a religion."        Nine Republicans are voting with Democrats to set up a House vote on extending federal health care subsidies. Wednesday's procedural vote passed by a slim majority, setting up another vote today on passing a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies that expired on December 31st.        Flu cases are surging nationwide as fewer Americans get vaccinated. The CDC says about 130-million people have gotten a flu shot so far this season, down sharply from pandemic-era levels, and the U.S. is now seeing its highest flu activity in 25 years. Nineteen states are reporting very high respiratory illness levels.        HBO is renewing "Real Time With Bill Maher" for two additional seasons. Maher has hosted the show since 2003 with over 700 episodes produced. The comedy show brings figures from different industries together for lively and tense panel discussions. Season 24 premieres on January 23rd.
