COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Updates In Advance of Adverse Weather

 

In response to the adverse weather expected on Friday, operations will be adjusted at some COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites.

 

Testing

 

Rhode Island’s outdoor testing sites usually operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hours of operation at the following sites will be adjusted on January 7th to 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

  • Cumberland Stop & Shop 
  • CCRI Warwick Parking Lot (new location) 
  • McCoy Stadium 
  • Pawtucket Stop & Shop 
  • Woonsocket State-run Test Site 

 

People who had morning appointments at these sites will have those appointments honored at any point later in the day.

 

The Wickford Train Station parking garage testing site and the outdoor Pre K-12 Pine Street testing site in Pawtucket will operate tomorrow during normal hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

 

The test site at the Rhode Island Convention Center ticket booth will move indoors to the Dunkin Donuts Center concourse for Friday.

 

Vaccination

 

The vaccination clinic that had been planned for the Providence Public Library downtown will not be held tomorrow. People who had appointments for Providence Public Library clinic are being rescheduled at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

 

Tomorrow will be the first day vaccinating at the Rhode Island Convention Center. There will be limited availability tomorrow, but additional availability next week. Appointments can be made at VaccinateRI.org.

New Year's celebrations are happening around the world. Japan, China, and New Zealand already have all welcomed in 2026. Meanwhile, a million or so revelers are expected to pack New York City's Times Square for the Big Apple's annual celebration.        Texas officials are working to determine the identity of a body found in the search for a missing woman in Texas. Nineteen-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos was last seen a week ago. Yesterday evening, a body was found in a field about 100 yards from Mendoza Olmos' home.        The year is on track to end with biggest drop in U.S. homicides ever recorded. According to a sampling of preliminary crime statistics from 550 law enforcement agencies, 2025 will come to a close with a near 20 percent drop in homicides nationwide. Experts say crime levels appear "back to normal" after a pandemic surge.        Hearings on fraud concerns in Minnesota will be held by the House Oversight Committee. Chairman James Comer announced the hearing on Wednesday, and it is set for January 7th with testimony from Republican lawmakers Kristin Robbins, Walter Hudson and Marion Rarick. Comer has also invited Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz to testify on February 10th.        Tatiana Schlossberg, the graddaughter of President John F. Kennedy, has died. She passed away from cancer at the age of 35 according to statement released from The JFK Library Foundation that was signed by her family. Schlossberg revealed last month she had less than a year to live after being diagnosed with leukemia.        Today's slate of college football bowl games is underway. Number 23 Iowa is taking on Number 14 Vanderbilt in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa. Later, the College Football Playoff will resume with number ten Miamia playing number two Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas.
