Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury

On March 10, 2023, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Luke Gedeon with a total of 14 counts comprising of first- and second-degree child molestation sexual assault as well as first- and second-degree sexual assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred on various dates between January 1, 2012, and September 1, 2022, in the town of South Kingstown. The South Kingstown Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 20, 2023, in Washington County Superior Court.

 

The Justice Department has served grand jury subpoenas to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey . The subpoenas are centered on an investigation into allegedly obstructing federal officers amid anti-ICE protests in the state. Walz and Frey have been critical of federal immigration officials following the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis earlier this month.        Freezing temperatures are gripping a large part of the country. Life-threatening wind chill temperatures have already impacted parts of the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, Ohio Valley and Northeast. This first wave of arctic air will slightly ease by tomorrow, before another surge of cold air hits the Midwest on Thursday.        Wall Street is closing sharply lower on fears of a global trade war. Stocks plunged in a broad sell-off after President Trump threatened allies with escalating tariffs over Greenland. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 870 points to 48-488. The S&P 500 lost 143 points to 67-96. The Nasdaq dropped 561 points to 22-954.        Second Lady Usha Vance and Vice President JD Vance are expecting their fourth kid. The announcement comes from the official Second Lady social media account that was posted Tuesday. In the statement, she mentions that they are "looking forward to welcoming him in late July."        The Supreme Court has still yet to rule on the legality of President Trump's global tariffs. The justices heard the case in early November and released opinions this morning without a ruling on tariffs. The court's decision could have massive implications for American consumers and businesses, the economy and presidential authority.        The NBA has revealed the schedule for the 2026 Finals. The league announced the best-of-seven series is set to begin June 3rd. All games are set to be televised on ABC with tip-off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
