Vice President JD Vance is in Israel today and tomorrow. He's expected to travel to the HQ for the international task force overseeing the Gaza ceasefire, according to Israeli reports. He'll be meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow. Vance's arrival came after Hamas on Monday night returned the body of another dead hostage to Israel.        President Trump has court permission to deploy National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon. That's the ruling from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The panel said in its 2-1 ruling on Monday that presidential determinations are not reviewable by federal courts. The dissenting judge blasted the ruling as "absurd," writing that it "erodes core constitutional principles including sovereign States' control over their States' militias and the people's First Amendment rights to assemble and to object to the government's policies and actions.        The 2025 World Series gets underway this week. The Toronto Blue Jays are taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers in this year's Fall Classic. Game One of the World Series is Friday night in Toronto.        Boeing and the union representing more than three-thousand striking employees resume talks today. Over 32-hundred Boeing employees in the St. Louis-area have been on strike since early August demanding a better contract.        Some patients with a type of blindness are able to see well enough to read books thanks to an eye implant and smart glasses. The patients, who suffer from age-related macular degeneration, were given an implant under their retina that links with a pair of smart glasses.        Chicago is honoring the late "Cheers" star George Wendt. Wendt's widow, Bernadette Birkett, spoke on Sunday as a stretch of South Bell Avenue in Beverly was renamed "Honorary George Wendt Way." The Chicago native grew up in the neighborhood. Wendt died in May at the age of 76.
