Amo Continues Blue Economy Tour with Rhode Island’s Leading Manufacturers

Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District continues by highlighting workers and small businesses in Newport County and the East Bay

 

Providence, RI – Tomorrow, October 22, 2024 at 11:30 AM Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) will continue his Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District with stops at Blue Economy manufacturing companies in Newport County and the East Bay. Congressman Amo will first visit VATN Systems to participate in a demonstration of one of their autonomous underwater vehicles. Then, Congressman Amo will be joined by Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner to visit Flux Marine and engage with their electric boat manufacturing and development. The stop at Flux Marine will conclude with a ride in a boat powered by an all-electric outboard motor.

President Trump is sending in the National Guard into Memphis to help combat crime. On Monday from the Oval Office, Trump said it will be exactly like the recent operation in Washington, DC. He said the Guard will be joined by agents from the FBI and other federal officers.        President Trump believes the man accused of murdering Charlie Kirk was radicalized online by the left. While speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said it appears Tyler Robinson had "wonderful parents" and was a "smart guy," but something bad happened quickly. Kirk was close friend of the Trump family. The President has credited Kirk for his gains in the youth vote in the 2024 election.        House Speaker Mike Johnson says negotiations on a stopgap bill to keep the government funded have stalled to add security funding for federal officials. The government would face a partial shutdown beginning October 1st if lawmakers don't agree on a funding measure. According to Johnson, he expects to resolve the issue over the next 24 to 48 hours through discussions with members of his own party as well as Democrats.        Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the focus has shifted to what happens next following Israel's strike on Hamas inside Qatar [[ cutter ]] last week. He met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today in Jerusalem. Speaking alongside Netanyahu, Rubio reiterated the U.S. still wants to get a peace deal done, but acknowledged it may not be possible.        CDC employees are returning to the office for the first time after a shooting at the agency. Health and Human Services advised the workers to return to the Atlanta-based office today. Everyone was sent home after a gunman fired hundreds of bullets on the campus and killed a DeKalb County police officer in early August.        A new study shows many people don't realize they have diabetes. Data published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology shows 44 percent of people 15 years and older who have diabetes are undiagnosed. Researchers looked over data from more than 200 countries from 2000 to 2023 for their study.
