Announcing a benefit concert
Supporters of the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) will be hosting a benefit concert at the Assembly Theater in Harrisville, RI on Saturday, August 26th at 7:00 PM, with tickets for $20 per person.
CLF is New England’s premier environmental organization and has been at the forefront of the legal battle against the siting of the proposed Clear River Energy Center by Invenergy, a Chicago company. Jerry Elmer is the Senior Attorney opposing the Invenergy power plant.
This event will feature the music of local recording artist, Jan Luby and Nashville recording artist, Jonas Woods, and a brief discussion by Jerry Elmer himself. There will also be raffles, including a pair of New England Patriots tickets.
All proceeds from the evening will be specifically earmarked by CLF for their continuing legal battle against the siting of the proposed power plant.
About the proposed power plant
The fracked-gas- and diesel-fueled power plant would be located in Burrillville, Rhode Island and would be the largest power plant of its kind in New England. The combined size of the power plant, along with the associated new transmission lines, sewer lines, two-million-gallon oil tank, gas and water pipelines, construction landing pad and other new infrastructure development, if sited, would adversely impact over 200 acres of forested land and wetlands in northwestern Rhode Island.
The proposed plant is also opposed by 32 cities and towns in RI, including Burrillville, and 3 towns in CT and MA, along with every environmental organization in the state.
About the Conservation Law Foundation
CLF protects New England’s environment for the benefit of all people. They use the law, science and the market to create solutions that preserve our natural resources, build healthy communities, and sustain a vibrant economy.
