Rep. Brien receives committee assignments
STATE HOUSE — Speaker of the House K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) has appointed Rep. Jon D. Brien (I-Dist. 49, Woonsocket) to serve on the House Oversight, Labor, and State Government and Elections committees for the 2023-24 legislative term.
The Oversight Committee reviews the operation and efficiency of various state departments and agencies, fulfilling the legislature’s oversight role under separation of powers.
The House Labor Committee deliberates legislation relating to workers’ compensation and labor laws. The House Committee on State Government and Elections considers legislation relating to state affairs, governmental departments and divisions, administrative procedures, open meetings, elections law and constitutional amendments.
Representative Brien was elected to the House of Representatives in November. He previously represented District 50 in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012.
