Lincoln man charged with second-degree child abuse
An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Lincoln man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with second-degree child abuse stemming from his arrest after he surrendered himself to the North Providence Police Department on June 9, 2022.
On April 18, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Jason Almeida (age 41), by way of criminal information, with one count of second-degree child abuse.
As alleged in the criminal information, the defendant assaulted a victim under the age of 18 multiple times between May 7, 2021 and May 23, 2022 in North Providence. The North Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.
The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on June 23, 2023, in Providence County Superior Court. The defendant is facing criminal charges for child abuse in a separate case, investigated by the Lincoln Police Department, pending in Providence County Superior Court.
